When two young programmers from Slovakia, Peter Pasko and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program to detect one of the first computer viruses in 1987, they had no idea that they had just begun to write the history of one of the world’s most successful anti-virus programs. They named it NOD – “Hospital on the Edge of the Disk”, after the then popular Czechoslovak TV series. A few years after the Velvet Revolution, they founded the company ESET together with their friend Rudolf Hruby.
